Newmilns Extension

Architect Ayrshire – Architecture Ayrshire

Located 5 minutes from my home office in Newmilns, I provided the Building warrant and Planning architectural services for this lovely extension now titled charmingly the ‘Cooper wing’ by the clients.

This lovely Pavilion style extension sited on a semi detached property in Newmilns, Ayrshire was a delight to work on, the clients gave a brief of 3.5m x 5.5m Dining room extension and free rein on the design.

This is a simple Ayrshire extension that uses sound architectural design to produce balanced window proportions and an extended roof over hang to provide a balanced overall aesthetic. Material finishes were important here to make sure the project didn’t turn out looking like a old flat roof box extension, so high quality Oak lining boards and powder coated aluminium roof finished were used to give a really lovely warm tactile finish.

The structure uses a light weight design consisting of a standard type timber frame structure with an air cavity formed using fixing battens then Oak lining boards, this eliminates the need for an external leaf of facing brick or roughcast thus saving cost on trades and saving time on site.

The structure uses super high performance Xtratherm insulation boards in the floor, wall and roof to provide a highly energy efficient structure that saves costs on heating bills and also cuts carbon emissions and footprint.
